Walker County Ag Booster Show

B went to her second show with Rawlings this weekend.  Rawlings was pretty feisty in the early part of the day and was not as cooperative as B would have liked.  She finally settled down when it was time to go into the show ring.

They ended up 2nd in their weight class and had a much better showing with Showmanship than they did in the first show.  Working ad prepping for the Walker County Fair in just 9 weeks!

Scramble Heifer Banquet & 1st Show

This week was a busy week for some of the Scramble Heifer kids.  First, they had their Donor Banquet to say a big "THANK YOU!" to all of the donors for this year.  There was a great speaker and wonderful fajitas and time to just be dressed up and have fun.
Just the girls well, because, you know, they are what matters!

Next some of the Scramble Heifer kids went to a prospect show.  We were 100% unprepared and had no idea what to expect.  The whole day was definetly a learning experience.  We didn't have anything to bathe her with, had to buy a comb and borrow a show halter and a blower.  She was learning on the fly but was eager to give it a try...

Showmanship did not go great as they asked some questions that Brogan was unprepared for and had no idea of as these are donated and not all of the information was given by the donors.  It was great learning experience as now we know what to go back ad ask the donor.

Rawlings was up to 818 lbs. this week so it put her in the 3rd weight class.  After showmanship she was more nervous but more relaxed in a way as well.  This time it was all about how Rawlings did and B was up for the challenge!

After a number of minutes of going back and forth between Rawlings and another heifer the places were finally handed out.  Brogan thought she was in the running for last place when in reality she was in the running for first!  She ended up 2nd in her weight class!!!  Talk about a great first show!

Brogan was so excited!!  All of the kids did a great job in their weight classes!
Way to go, Walker County!!

First Upward Game

Christian  playing Upward Basketball this year and is super excited!  He has even been practicing at home.  His first game was today and he scored 10 points!!  More importantly...he was grinning from ear to ear!

Final score 22-12...Way to go Cheetas!!

January Weigh In

Brogan had the fourth weigh in for her Scramble Heifer project today.  Rawlings didn't gain as much weight as she would have liked her to but they are still on a good path.

She also had to give her presentation on the "History of Cattle".  She wasn't to pumped up about that but she made it through.

Here's to 2016...

2016 is here, ready or not!
I have never really been one to make resolutions with the start of a new year.  I like schedules and live by my calendars (meal calendar, chore charts, lesson plans and daily calendar with the kid's activities) but I know that everything is fluid and changes much more than it stays the same.  Resolutions have always been something that I knew I would probably never keep so I guess that is why I never made them.

This year...

Instead of resolutions I am going to have goals for myself.  I will check in monthly to see how I am doing and keep up with my progress that way.

This year I will...
Quit drinking cokes
Start running & working out
(at least 4 times per week with Brogan)
Honor my husband
(I tend to be just a little bossy and like things my way,
I'll admit it)
Grow in my walk with Christ
(Spend more time in prayer)
Spend more quality time with my kids
(Not just running to events and less computer time for me)
Make breakfast for my kids
(At least 3 times per week, I need to be realistic!)
Learn to knit
Raise our level of self reliability
(Start back my garden, continue the rabbits, get chickens and maybe a pig and some goats if I can sweet talk Jeremy!)
Visit my Bible daily
(365 day reading plan)
Save more money
($5 bill challenge!)
Have a monthly date night
(Even if it is to the grocery store!)
Do Better At keeping up this blog
(Post at least twice a month)
My Wildest Dream for 2016
is to pay off our car and house
(Anyone have any extra $$$$ laying around?)
Claiming Ephesians 3:20 on this one!!

Each year I try to come up with a word for the upcoming year but for 2016 I decided on a verse...

With that...

Praying many blessings over you and your family in 2016!!!

Bad Momma

I have to admit that I am one bad mom.
9 posts this year?  Really?  Only 9!
I started to go through my pictures to catch up but that just seemed overwhelming so I'm leaving it like it is.  Here's to keeping up in 2016!
