Rabbit Purchase

Codey wants to show rabbits this year for 4H at the Walker County Fair.  He has to tag in his rabbits this upcoming Monday so we purchased our first set of breeder rabbits to have some to show at the fair that is the last weekend of March 2010 thru the first weekend of April 2010.  Mr. Mauer was really nice and spent a lot of time answering our questions and giving us some helpful advice.  Brogan has already named them and says that she is going to show rabbits next year when she is eligible.  We will see how this year goes first!

Trunk or Treating Fun

Our Church puts on a fun alternative to the traditional Halloween called "Trunk or Treat".  People volunteer to dress up and decorate their cars in the parking lot of our church and the kids go from car to car "trunk or treating".  There are games, free food and lots of fun themes.  Best of all, Christ is woven into many aspects of the traditional Halloween holiday.  This year, as part of the youth, Joshua volunteered to help out with the younger kids on the giant blow up slide.  He did a great job and I was very proud of him!  Brogan was Hannah Montana, Christian was my Knight in Shining Armor, and Rylen was Bear in the Big Blue House.  All in all it was a great Halloween!!

October Lexington Center Visit

Once each month we are doing an outreach project within our community as a part of our homeschool curriculum.  We will be visiting The Lexington Center, a local senior assisted living center, and visiting with the residents as well as playing games and doing projects.  This month we brought along all the supplies needed to pack shoe boxes for Operation Christmas Child, a project of Samaritan's Purse.  The kids helped the residents pack 13 shoe boxes!  The residents enjoyed the project and would have made more had we not ran out of boxes to fill.  The kids had a good time also and were great in helping out and explaining what to do.  I hope that by visiting the residents we can make some friendships, learn some about past generations, and we can have some fun as well.  I just took a few pictures this time so we hope you enjoy a hint of our visit!

All Cuddled Up

Last night Jeremy declared a movie night after dinner and we sat down to watch "Hoosiers" as a family and everyone declared their own area of the living room. As we were watching I noticed Rylen cuddled up with Joshua on the couch. Just a few seconds later Jeremy noticed them also and grabbed the camera to get this shot...

Rylen was so cute cuddled up next to "Boss" as he calls him, since he can't say Joshua. They caught Jeremy as the flash went off and just started smiling at each other...

I love it when they are loving on each other! It makes me feel as if maybe, just maybe, we are doing something right.

Poppy's Final Gift

My dad loved fishing and being on the water. He had said that before he died he wanted to get each of his grandkids a rod and reel. He was never able to do that but my brother took my mom out to get them the day she got back from San Antonio. Now each of his 8 grandkids have a special gift from him that they can forever treasure along with the precious memories that they have. Here are a few pictures of my brother, Giaccamo, handing them out to the grandkids and my mom with the grandkids and their special gifts.

Pay It Forward

I was lucky enough to be one of the first 3 to comment on Michelle's Pay It Forward post and received a wonderful gift just for me. I received a great smelling soap, some tea light candles and a wonderful note card all beautifully packaged. I thought I took a picture of the gift but couldn't find it on my camera. It was nice to get something in the mail that I didn't have to share for a change and that I didn't feel guilty telling the kids no they couldn't use it. Thanks Michelle!! Camp Out and a Movie

A few weeks ago Christian asked me to make him a tent in the living room and then we put a movie in. When I came back in the room he and Rylen were camping out together and watching the movie. The tent only lasted about 30 minutes after they started playing but they sure had a great time, and some great brother bonding to go with it!
