To Kill A Mockingbird

This summer Joshua was asked to read the script for "To Kill A Mockingbird" by the Drama teacher at the school and to see what he thought.  Well, he read parts of it and never mentioned it again.  Fast forward a few weeks and he asks me on a Monday morning if I am picking him up from school to take him to auditions.  "Auditions for what?"  I ask.  "TKMB."  He says.  Thought bubble *Oh, my bad I didn't know you wanted to do that.*  So, of course I take him over there.  Then, he wants to go back the following day to "Make sure I got the part Mom."  Really?  This is my Joshua right?  My BossMan?  The one who hates getting up in front of people, calling people on the phone, talking to teachers about things?  So, of course I take him back.  Friday I got an email...He got the part of Jem.  He was soooo ExCiTeD!!!

Fast forward 6 weeks and 150 lines later...
Opening Night!!!

OMG...My Name's In Lights!  Okay, maybe that isn't his name but he is in the production.  OMG!

Hurrying to find his picture on the board.

The gang on opening night.

There it is...It's official!

The cast.

Atticus, Jem, Scout, Calpernia, Dill

Dill, Scout & Jem

Boo Radley saves the day.

Mrs. Seholm was great with the kids.  We were very blessed to have her as the Children's Liason.

I was so nervous for him at every performance!  He did great!   They all did great!  It was the best selling performance ever in the history of Huntsville Community Theatre.  It was sold out on the last performance.  Overbooked.  They are thinking about bringing it back for one more encore in a few months.  Way to go cast & crew!!  7 weeks & 6 performances and we're done!

Who would have ever thought that our Joshua would ever want to be in a play?  Who would have ever thought that he would steal the show away?  God has amazing gifts that he has given to each of us.  The key is to let Him speak and us listen.  We are all destined for a unique walk if only we do.  Joshua, I am glad you listened.  I pray you continue to do so.  Jeremiah 29:11
