We had a fun playday with Isaac while his mom took care of a few things.  It was a pretty day and the kids had a blast.

Fun Pics of HLSR Rodeo

We went to the rodeo this past week down in Houston.  The kids have never been so they really enjoyed it.  We got to see live rodeo events and hear Alan Jackson.  Brogan couldn't believe she was hearing actual songs from the radio.  When she finally understood that this was the "real" person that sang these songs the look on her face was priceless.  We didn't have time for the carnival part since it was already such a late night but we all had a great time just being there.

Bird Feeder Science Experiment: Day 1

Today we started a new science experiment for our Living Creatures of the 5th Day curriculum we are using.  Our experiment was to see which kind of bird food the birds in our yard prefer.  So, to do this we took a trip to Wal-Mart and Christian, Brogan and Codey each got to pick which bird food they thought the birds would like best.  We came home with Golden Finch Food (Brogan), Colorful Bird Blend (Codey), and Wild Bird Seed (Christian).  

Next, we made bird feeders out of milk jugs by cutting a piece out of the middle.  It turned out to be really easy.

After making the bird feeders we filled each feeder with 2 soup cans of the selected feed and drew a line at our starting point.

Finally, we hung them in a tree which is easily visible from our kitchen window. 

Now, all we have to do is check each day for 14 days to see which one the birds like best!!

Lipazzaner Stallions

Brogan, Rachel and I went with a group from our church to see the world famous Lippizaner Stallions this past Sunday.  It was really a neat show and these horses could do some incredible things as far as horses go.  A neat history lesson was included in the show also.  It was a fun girl's night out!!

Softball Season Is Here!!

Brogan has started her softball season!!  She is excited to have two of her friend's on her team and has already made new friends also.

***S*N*O*W***

We had snow again!  The second time in one winter and this time it was lots more and fell for longer.  The kids couldn't wait for Joshua to get home so they could go play in it.  (I am such a bad mom.  I made them wait to go out in it so they could all have fun together.)  They had a blast!  A close friend of ours called and said we just had to go up to their land and play in the snow.  They are just 7 miles north of us so Codey and Jeremy wanted to know why we had to go and how did I know they had more snow than we did.  Well, when we got up there they did have more snow and lots of it!  The kids a blast, again!!  Once we got home we had steamy, hot veggie soup and then did an off-night family night with a movie, popcorn, hot chocolate and a campout in the living room.  Jeremy and Joshua did not have to be to school until 9:30 the next morning so it was perfect!
