How To...Make a Bird House from an Oatmeal Container

To go along with our science unit on birds we made birdhouses out of oatmeal containers.

First, the kids decorated their container.

Next, they cut out a hole for the birds to get in.

Then they poked a hole and inserted a popsicle stick so that the birds would have something to stand on.  We used gorilla glue to help get it to stay in place and be a bit more sturdy.

Then we used some wire to make a hanger and poked it thru the sides so that we could put it up in the trees.

We will check back to see if any birds take up residence or not!
