I was shopping for an ornament for two different Ornament Exchanges that I participated in this year and while we were there the kids and I decided that we would start a new tradition this year of painting a different ornament each year for our tree. What helped to prompt this was when Brogan was decorating the tree this year and noticed that Christian, Rylen and herself had far fewer ornamnets than Joshua and Codey did. Codey chalked it up to they were just older and had done more while they were in preschool. And, while this is partly true, the whole story is that when Joshua and Codey were bron I decided I would buy them each an ornament every year and this way when they left the house to go out on their own they would have ornaments for their own tree. While this is a great idea, as we had more children I didn't have the time or the funds always to purchase ornaments for ech of them so the tradition came to a hault. This year it was revitalized! We decided at the store we would purchase one type of ceramic ornament each year and paint them together. This way every year was commemorated with the same ornament but everyone would decorate it to represent themselves. This was a great idea so here are our bells to start our new tradition...
I can't wait to see what the years bring with this new tradition!

so sweet, we make or buy an ornament for each girl every year too. they each have their own box to keep their collection in and I write the year on the ornament in sharpie if it's not already on there...I also write the date and who gave them the ornament to live with the ornament so when they're adults they'll know the background information about them! I try to pick something that symbolized the past year so when E was really into robots when she was three we got a vintage looking robot ornament, a doctor one last year to represent her dr. themed birthday party...etc. Merry Christmas!!
